Ruby Lassiter Johnson

Mar. 21, 1937 - Apr. 21, 2012

RUBY LASSITER JOHNSON, 75, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Vidant Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville after a lengthy illness.  A native of Northampton County, she was a very caring mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and because she loved people she was a friend to all who knew her. In younger years, Ruby played basketball for Conway High School and remained an avid North Carolina State basketball fan.  As an adult she was a hard worker with employment in Carolina Telephone, a toothbrush manufacturer and other area businesses, but her great love was food service. She was a good cook and enjoyed preparing food for others at area restaurants and at home. Zion United Methodist was her home church.

Survivors include a daughter, Dawn G Jarratt and husband, Lance of Conway; two grandchildren, David Wayne Pope, Jr. (Dave) of Conway and Dustin Johnson Pope of Charlotte; three sisters, Daphne Wade (Dare) and Rose Lassiter Nall with husband, Walter all of Conway and Sandra Spivey (Cissy) and husband, Chris, of Roanoke Rapids; six nieces and nephews; eleven great nieces and nephews, and nine great, great nieces and nephews, and she adored them all.

Dawn, words cannot express the sympathy we feel for you and your family. We know how much you loved your Mother and what a wonderful, loving daughter you are. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I am sorry we never got to meet your Mother, however, she must have been a very special person to have a daughter like you. God gave her to you, and you to her, what a marvelous gift for each of you.
We are so fortunate to have you in our lives, we are here for you, always.

Dawn and Family,  I am so  sorry to here the loss of your mom and a special member of our Twisdale Family.  For me she was "Aunt Ruby, Aunt Ruby".  I'll always remember running back in forth in her mobile home calling out non-stop for Aunt Ruby.  God be with you and the family and know she is in heaven looking over us all.
