James Thomas “Jimmy” Dunn, Sr. 75, died April 10, 2019 at Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Northampton County and was known as a “jack of all trades” as he was able to do many things well. He had worked as a Mechanic, had worked with the Resinall Corporation in Severn, worked for the Pepsi Company, had worked in the Norfolk, VA Shipyard and had worked as Traffic Director for the Woodland Fire Department. He was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church and, also, attended The Lighthouse where he, also, landscaped the grounds there. He was an honorary member of the Woodland Volunteer Rescue Squad and for fun, he loved to saltwater fish. His favorite pastime was being a good husband, father, and grandfather.
Jimmy had been preceded in death by his parents, Gilman Dunn and Bessie Hodges Dunn and two sisters, Margie Matthews and Carrie Dunn Johnson.
His survivors include sons, James Thomas Dunn, Jr. “Tommy” and his wife, Karen, of Askewville, Barry Dunn and wife, Jennifer, of Edenton, George Dunn and friend, Pridgen, of Murfreesboro; grandson, Gilbert Thomas Dunn; brother, Benny Dunn and wife, Betty of Milwaukee, NC and many extended loving nephews and nieces.
