Obituary for Margaret Futrell DeLoatch

MARGARET FUTRELL DeLOATCH quietly slipped away from her family and earthly home of 87 years to be with her Lord on January 18, 2019. She left the same way she lived, in faith, kindness and beauty.
She loved her family, her church, her community and her friends. She had many talents and accomplishments in her life. She had her pilots license, served as president of the Murfreesboro Historical Association for 10 years, was an alumni and contributor to Chowan University. Among her passions were baking her famous rolls and cooking for any crowds that showed up at her table. She loved Christmas, watching snow fall, fishing, playing her organ loudly and with great enthusiasm, singing in her church choir and playing bridge with her friends.
She was the youngest daughter of Dr and Mrs LM Futrell of Murfreesboro. Her husband of 52 years, Charles S DeLoatch, Jr, preceded her in death. As a couple, they carried each other through the loss of their daughter, Mary Margaret DeLoatch.
Surviving Margaret are her two daughters, Charlotte D Walker, married to Jerry Noone of Kitty Hawk and Murfreesboro, NC and Nell D Miller living in Como, NC. Charlotte has three sons, William N Walker, Jr with his wife Becky, of Portland Oregon, Daniel D Walker, with his wife Denise, of Apex, NC and Joseph P Walker and his wife Katy, of Kitty Hawk, NC. Nell’s daughter, Kristie Miller Burris and her husband Chris, live in Fort Mill, SC. and her son Charles “Chuck” M Miller and his wife Aleca of Grandy, NC. Their families together blessed her life with 11 great-grandchildren with another due in March.
The family sends a special thank you to Keisha Cherry, Jaimie Pyle, Clara Barnes and Ruth Bazemore for their “end of life” care and support. Your contributions to our “Mamaw” have been immeasurable and most appreciated.
A funeral service will be held on January 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Murfreesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Villegas presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Murfreesboro Historical Association or the Murfreesboro United Methodist Church.
Bridgers Funeral Home in Conway will be in charge of all arrangements and Riverside Cemetery will be her final resting place. Online condolences may be shared with the family at
